Getting Started For Those Who Want More Details

Your guide to connecting, exploring, and building community

Welcome to LGBTIQ Faith Hub – a safe, affirming space where LGBTIQ+ people of faith can connect, share, and support one another. Whether you’re here to find community, explore your faith, or simply meet others who understand your journey, this guide will help you get started and make the most of everything the Hub has to offer.

Complete Your Profile

Your profile is how other members get to know you. The more you fill in, the easier it is for like-minded people to find you – and for you to find them.

Profile Basics

  • Add a profile photo – A friendly face helps others feel comfortable reaching out. You can also upload a cover image to personalise your profile page. If you’re not sure how to do it or it doesn’t look right send it to mary@lgbtiqfaithhub.com. I’d be happy to do it for you.
  • Fill in your faith and identity fields – Let others know your faith background, gender identity, and the community terms you use. This information helps with matching and connecting.
  • Tell us what you’re hoping to find – Are you looking for friendship, support, fellowship, or something else? Sharing this helps others know how to connect with you.
  • Set your location – Adding your country and province/state makes it easier for nearby members to find you.

Get Verified

Verification helps keep our community safe and builds trust between members. Verified members get a badge on their profile and access to additional features.

How to Get Verified

  1. Click the “Get Verified” button on your profile page.
  2. Take a selfie holding a piece of paper with your first name written on it.
  3. Submit it through the verification form. Our team will review it and you’ll receive a confirmation email.

Why verify? Unverified members have limited access to certain features, including messaging and video calls. Getting verified unlocks the full Hub experience.

Explore the Community Groups

The Hub is organised into community groups, each with its own chat room, forum, and members. Groups are arranged in three categories:

Faith Groups

Connect with others who share your faith background or explore different traditions. Whether you’re Christian, Muslim, Jewish, Buddhist, Hindu, Sikh, or from another faith tradition, there’s a space for you.

Identity Groups

Find your people based on how you identify. Groups are available for different gender identities and sexual orientations, so you can connect with others who share your experience.

Community Groups

Interest-based groups covering topics like relationships, mental health support, social connection, and more.

Tip: You can join as many groups as you like! Browse all available groups from the Groups page and click “Join Group” to get started. If you would like a group that is not listed please send details to mary@lgbtiqfaithhub.com.

Chat & Video Calls

The Hub offers real-time ways to connect with other members:

Private Messaging

Group Chat Rooms

Send private messages to any member directly from their profile or through the Messages area. You can have one-on-one conversations or create group chats.

Each community group has its own chat room where you can have real-time conversations with other group members. Jump in, say hello, and get chatting!

Video & Voice Calls

Want a face-to-face conversation? Start a video or voice call with another member directly from a chat. This feature is available to verified members.

Join the Conversations in Forums

Each group has its own discussion forum where you can post topics, ask questions, and share your thoughts. Forums are a great way to have deeper conversations that others can join over time — unlike chat, forum posts stick around for everyone to read and respond to.

  • Start a new topic to share something on your mind or ask for advice.
  • Reply to existing topics to add your perspective and support others.
  • Check the sticky posts at the top of each forum — they often contain helpful introductions and guidelines for the group.

Find Members

Use the Member Directory to browse and search for other members. You can search by name or use filters to find people who share your interests, faith, or location. It’s a great way to discover people you might want to connect with.

Set Up New Member Alerts

Want to know when someone who shares your interests joins the Hub? Set up New Member Alerts and we’ll notify you by email when a new member matches the criteria you care about — like faith, gender identity, community terms, or how they want to participate.

  • Choose which criteria matter to you.
  • Pick whether to match on any or all of your selections.
  • Choose instant notifications or a daily digest.

You can manage your alert preferences from the New Member Alerts page at any time.

See Who’s Online

The Member Directory shows who’s currently online, making it easy to reach out for a real-time chat when you see someone available.

Safety & Respect

LGBTIQ Faith Hub is a safe space. We ask all members to treat each other with kindness and respect. A few things to keep in mind:

  • Be respectful of others’ beliefs, identities, and experiences, even when they differ from your own.
  • Protect your privacy — only share personal information you’re comfortable with. Remember that what you share in group spaces can be seen by other group members.
  • Report concerns — if you encounter anything that makes you uncomfortable or violates community guidelines, please report it to the site administrator.
  • Adults Only rooms — some chat rooms are designated for adult content. You’ll see a warning before entering these rooms. Please respect these boundaries.

We’re so glad you’re here.
